Summer 1982
My summer this year was a good one. The best part was a pack trip that two scouts, our adviser, one scouts (sic) father and I went on.On August 16 we loaded our horses and equipment into trucks and drove up Greys River as far as we could. Then we saddled up and rode to Cliff Creek Falls. On the way we rode through Roosavelt (sic) Meadows.
The next morning we had breakfast and left camp by nine o-clock. We rode up some very steep hills to the top of the Greyback Ridge. On top we could see the Tetons. It was quite a view. We rode down to Waterdog Lake. After taking care of our horses, we went swimming.
Wendsday (sic) we rode across the middle ridge to Murphy Lake. We went fishing but didn't catch anything. After supper we were studying about orienteering. While we were our scout masters horse and his two pack horses wandered away from camp, he spent half the night looking for them.
The last day we rode almost to the top of Prater Peak, since it was to steep for a horse we walked the last 1500 feet. We could see all of Star Valley. We walked to a snow bank and had snow cones for lunch. We rode down Prater Canyon and home.
Even though I was tired and saddle sore. I wouldn't have missed it for anything.
