When Jason was in Eighth grade, he played the trumpet in band. The band planned a trip to Schlitterbahn associated with the annual band competition in San Antonio. He was supposed to meet the bus in the parking lot at A&M Consolidated High School at 5:00 a.m. (or maybe 4:30 a.m.) on the morning of the trip.
I agreed to drive him to the bus. He got up early. Annette made breakfast for him. He packed his lunch and swimming gear in a backpack. We got in the car and drove to the high school to meet the bus. As we pulled up to the bus, Jason said, “Oh, I forgot to bring my trumpet!” (Or something like that)
We pulled up to the bus. He got out and checked in with the band teacher. The band teacher said the bus was leaving in 10 minutes. I said I would be back.
I ZOOMED home. The school is about 3.5 miles from our house. It usually takes us about 7-10 minutes (depending on traffic) to get one way to/from the school. While I was driving, I called Annette on the phone to tell her I was coming to get the trumpet. She brought the trumpet out to meet me at the curb. I ZOOMED back to the school. The bus had not left yet. I made the round trip under 10 minutes.
Jason had his trumpet. He went on the trip and enjoyed the competition and Schlitterbahn.
