I got a watch for Christmas when I was in third or fourth grade. It was my first digital watch. It was black. It had one function - show the time. To get the time to display, you had to push the single button on the side. Then the time would display in red LED letters.
I think I was the only kid in my class at school who had a watch. My friends at school thought my watch was really cool. One friend (Sven Erickson) was quite enthralled by my watch.

For the first week or so when we returned to school after the holiday break, Sven would come up to me during the day to ask what time it was. In class, if Sven needed to sharpen his pencil or get a drink or something, he would walk around past my desk and push the button on my watch to see what time it was, even though his desk was on the other side of the room from my desk!
I eventually had to throw that watch away because I left it in the pocket of my pants and it went through the washer and dryer. Then, for some reason, it stopped working!
