When I was a young boy, we used to travel through Soda Springs, Idaho on road trips. For example, we drove through "Soda" on our way to Preston, Idaho, (to visit Aunt Madalyn's family); Grace, Idaho, (for the pulling matches); Blackfoot, Idaho, (to visit Uncle Bud and Aunt Larue); and to Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, (to go swimming).
On the north side of Soda Springs, Idaho, is one of the mineral water springs for which the town was named. Hooper Springs is a natural, mineral-water spring. You can dip your cup or water bottle in the spring and drink the tasty mineral water.
As a kid, we stopped at this spring a few times to have a picnic in the park. I did not appreciate the taste of the water as much then. Fortunately, Mom would mix the water with Kool-Aid flavoring and sugar to reduce the mineral taste of the water.
In the summer of 2013, we stopped at this spring as we were traveling. We had a lovely picnic. I found that as an adult, I liked the taste of the water more than I had as a kid. None of our kids liked the taste.
