Bean Bag Frog

When I was young, we had a bean bag frog. I think I was about 4 or 5. I do not remember if it was my frog or if it belonged to a sibling. I just know I liked to play with it. In retrospect, it could have been homemade. While I have a vague memory of Cade and me playing with the frog, I do not really remember what game we played or how we played with the frog.

For this story, my memory is about what happened to the frog. One day after playing with the frog, Cade and I left it outside. It was spring or summer. I do not remember missing the frog.

What I do remember is finding the frog outside and it was growing! The beans had sprouted and the frog turned green with bean sprouts growing through the fabric frog shell that formed the frog.

When I showed the sprouts to Mom, she threw the frog away. I remember being sad that I would not be able to play with it again.

[UPDATE FROM KRIS] After I originally published this story, Kris told me that Mom made the frog and that we actually had multiple frogs, and that all of them sprouted.
