Sister Missionary Who Taught Iris

When we lived in Tallahassee while I was in graduate school, I was called to serve as the second counselor in the bishopric of the Tallahassee Fifth Ward (a YSA ward).

One Sunday during Sacrament Meeting, one of the sisters who spoke shared experiences from her mission. She told a story about teaching a sister whose husband was a member of the church but she was not. The sister had a friend who introduced the missionaries to her by recruiting the sister to feed the missionaries.

After she started feeding the sister missionaries, they challenged her to take the discussion and to read the Book of Mormon. Eventually, the sister was baptized.

The story sounded a bit familiar to me. Then, the speaker mentioned that she served in the Ogden Utah Mission. After the meeting, I confirmed that the sister who got baptized was my sister-in-law, Iris Jasperson.

Even though the sister had been in the ward for about one year, and knew I was from Wyoming, and knew my name was Brother Jasperson, she never wondered if I knew Iris.
