Oklahoma City Airport

When we moved to Oklahoma from Florida, Dad flew to Florida to help us pack the truck and drive with us from Florida to Oklahoma. After we unloaded the truck and moved in, Dad stayed with us for a few days before he flew home.

When I took Dad to the airport in Oklahoma City to fly back to Salt Lake City, Jamie and Tanner rode with us (we did not yet have a big van to haul everyone at once.

Jamie and Tanner also rode with me to pick Dad up from the airport in Tallahassee.

When we stopped to drop Dad off on the curb, Tanner and Jamie wanted to hug Grandpa before he left. So, they got out of the car. While standing on the curb saying goodbye, we heard the announcement over the PA system, "Curbside parking is for loading and unloading passengers only..."

Tanner got excited and exclaimed, "Hey, they have the same person in Oklahoma that was in Tallahassee!"

As we left the airport to drive to Norman, Jamie and Tanner noticed the "Iron Feathers" art sculpture that is part of Will Rogers Airport.

When they asked me about the arrows, I told them that when the airport was first built the Native Americans in the area did not know what to think about the giant airplanes. So, they constructed a giant metal bow and arrow to try shooting the airplanes out of the sky. The arrows were some of the arrows they shot from their bow trying to down the airplane.

Later they repeated this story to Grandma Tueller when she visited us and we picked her up from the airport. I hope they now realize that I was telling tall tales!
