After I finished putting gas in the van, I started walking to the store. Tanner came running up to me to say that Ashton was bleeding. I looked up to see Jamie exiting the store holding Ashton's forehead with a bloody paper towel on his head.
After going to the bathroom, Ashton washed his hands and was waiting for the rest of the boys to finish washing their hands. From the other side of the bathroom door, a teenage boy came running into the bathroom and kicked open the door. The door swung into the bathroom and the edge of the door smacked Ashton right between the eyes.
Needless to say, the door left a nice cut on Ashton's forehead. The cut was about 1/2 inch long and bleeding profusely.
It was early evening (around 6:00 p.m.) when we stopped. We asked for directions to the local hospital (Hardeman County Memorial Hospital). Then, we drove to the emergency room.
I went into the ER with Ashton. The nurse looked at his head and recommended we get stitches. However, the doctor had already gone home because it was after hours and the hospital is so small. They called the doctor to come back to work. He lived out in the country about 20 miles away. It took him about 30 minutes to get to the ER. Then he stitched Ashton's forehead together.
Our stop to get gas and have a potty break turned into a three hour stop!
