I took Tanner, Allyn, and Jason to Home Depot with me one day to complete some shopping errands. I think it was 2007 or 2008. (The kids would be between 8 and 14 years old.)
I had a number of things I was looking for during our shopping trip. As a result, the kids' attention span started to wane.
At one point, we walked down an aisle that had large sheets of aluminum on a shelf. The sheets were quite thin. I did not notice them. However, the kids did. Tanner convinced Allyn and Jason to run their fingers along the edge of the metal sheets. While Allyn exercised care in touching the metal sheet, Jason ran his finger along the entire edge and cut his finger.
Tanner convinced Allyn to ask if she could go to the bathroom. Then, he instructed her to get some paper towels to wrap around Jason's finger. However, his finger continued to bleed. So, they finally told me that Jason had cut his finger.
This experience helped them learn that metal sheets are sharp like a knife.
