Not Four Yet

When Jamie and Tanner were young, I started a tradition of taking each child out to eat on their birthday. I would take them to a place to have breakfast on the morning of their birthday. When the kids got old enough to go to school, I would take them to breakfast on Saturday near their actual birthday as it was sometimes hard to go out somewhere and get finished in time for school.

In 1998, I took Tanner to breakfast at Shoney's. In the small talk with our waitress, we shared that we were there for Tanner's Birthday date. When the waitress asked how old he was, Tanner was too shy to respond. So, I said he was four.

Then Tanner found his voice. He spoke up to say he was not four he was only three because he had not had his birthday cake yet!
