When we lived in Oklahoma, our stake did a Father & Son campout every spring in May. The campout activity was usually associated with the Aaronic Priesthood commemoration. For the first few years after we moved to Texas, the stake in College Station also had an annual Father & Son campout.
In both stakes, we were expected to provide our own dinner on Friday night and the stake would provide breakfast on Saturday morning. We adopted the tradition of purchasing chicken strips from KFC or Walmart for our dinner and eating in the car on the way to the camping location. I would also purchase Sprite or 7-Up in bottles and sandwich cookies.
We would eat while we drove. One fun tradition was that we would have a burping contest by drinking Sprite and then burping.
