Embarrassing Spit Bubble

When I was at the University of Oklahoma, I had a student-athlete who was on the wrestling team in my class one semester. One week he came to my office during consultation hours to meet with me because he had missed class due to a wrestling meet.

He was sitting at the round table in my office taking notes. I was standing by the table writing on the whiteboard in my office teaching some system modeling techniques.

While I was talking a tiny spit bubble flipped off the end of my tongue. It was about 1/8 inches wide. The bubble floated through the air toward my student. We both watched as it landed on his lip and popped.

I was highly embarrassed and began apologizing profusely.

He wiped his lip, shrugged his shoulders, and said, "That's okay. I have experienced worse as a wrestler."

SIDE NOTE: The student, Nate Parker, graduated from OU and worked an IT job for a couple of years. Later, he began acting and producing movies.
