Sing Your Way Home

Early in our marriage, I learned that Annette likes to sing. As a child growing up, Annette's family would sing while they traveled. On a road trip to California and back, I learned some family favorites from Afton and Chrissy.

Thus, one of the ways Annette and I pass the time while we travel is to sing songs. As we had children, we taught them to sing in the car as well. In this post, I share some of our favorite songs to sing while driving down the road.

Sing Your Way Home
(Children's Songbook, #193)

Sing your way home at the close of the day.
Sing your way home; drive the shadows away.
Smile ev’ry mile, for wherever you roam
It will brighten your road, it will lighten your load
If you sing your way home

Chorus

Eddie Cucha Cacha Cama,
Tosi Nara Tosi Noka,
Sammy Camma Wacky Brown
Fell in to the well,
Fell into the well,
Fell into the deep, dark well.

Susie Jones,
Milking in the barn
Saw him fall,
Ran inside and told her mom that...

Chorus

Susie's mom,
Making cracklin' bread,
Called Old Joe,
Told him that her Susie said that...

Chorus

Then Old Joe,
Pushed his plow aside
Grabbed his cane,
Hobbled into town and cried that...

Chorus

Then from town,
Everybody came
What a shame,
It took so long to say his name that…

DROWNED!

There Was a Little House in the Middle of the Woods (with hand motions)
(source unknown)

There was a little house in the middle of the woods (make a roof )
A little old man by the window stood (make binoculars)
He saw a rabbit hopping by (make hopping bunny)
Knocking on his door (make knocking motion)
Help me, help me, help me he cried (wave hands frantically)
Or the hunter will shoot me dead (make gun)
Come little rabbit come with me (wave inside)
Happy we will be (make bunny ears with one hand and pet with the other hand)

Boooorrrrringggg!

Badoom, badoom

In a pad in a forest green
Badoom, badoom
Crazy Herman was surveying the scene
Badoom, badoom
Saw a hare-man hopping by
Rapping at his door
Badoom, Badoom
Like help, like help came the plea
Badoom, badoom
Before the farmer exterminates me
Badoom, badoom
Crazy hare-man don't jump and shout
Come in and we'll hang out
