In my original "What's In a Name" post, I talked about the origin of the names we selected for our children. In this post, I tell a fun story about Jason and one of Tate's nicknames.
When the kids were younger, we kept a family home evening journal. During this time, one of the family home evening assignments was "historian." The historian's job was to record important information about what happened during home evening. This included who said the prayers, what songs we sang, what we did for activity, what we had for a treat, and a short summary of the lesson. It was also the historian's job to read the "minutes" from the previous week's home evening.
In 2008 or 2009, Jason was the assigned historian for one of our family home evenings. For some reason, as Jason reads the history from the last week, he does not recognize Tate's name. Instead, he sees the name as "Ta te." Thus, he exclaimed, "Who the heck is taw-tay?"
And that is how Tate earned a new nickname!
I reviewed our family home evening journal and found two pages when Jason was the historian and the previous week has something about Tate. I included both pages below. This story could come from one of these pages in our journal.
