20th Anniversary Memory - Dating Memories (Before Engagement)

One night, we drove to Salt Lake and went to Temple Square. We were standing outside the temple fence on the south side of the temple but inside of the Temple Square fence looking at the temple and talking. When it came time for Temple Square to close, a security guard came over to us and said, “If she hasn’t said yes yet, you will have to come back tomorrow.” I thought I was really daring when I replied, “I have not asked her yet.” Did you catch the hint that night that I was in love with you?!

One night, we had been walking around campus and ended up at Deseret Towers (DT) field. I had parked my car there after returning from milking cows. We got a blanket from the trunk of the Probe and wandered to the middle of DT field. We lay on the blanket and talked through the entire night! We did sleep a little, but it was too cold to sleep even though we snuggled close and had a blanket. We stayed until you had to leave for early morning Cougarette practice!

During the Fall 1989 semester, I had a job milking cows for a dairy in Geneva. You came with me to milk a couple of times. Watching you in the cow barn was like watching a fish out of water. You were so unsure of yourself and what you should be doing. You wore my big boots and spent most of the time trying to stay clean. But you were a good sport and tried to help as best you could. You even washed udders and put the milking machines on the cows!
