I recruited your roommates to help me propose to you. We gathered sales catalogs from several local jewelry stores. Your roommates told you they were doing a project for their “Preparation for Marriage” class to survey people about the kinds of wedding rings they liked and their ring sizes. You were a willing and eager research subject. I borrowed $500 from Cade to buy the ring. Then, I took Sharon and Nancy (two of your roommates) to the mall with me to pick out the ring. We looked at several different stores and tried on many different rings. At one store, the sales clerk asked which was the “lucky” girl and was surprised to learn that it was neither of them.
I invited you to go for a drive that evening. You said that would be good because you wanted to talk. We drove up Provo Canyon to Sundance Park. We parked and got out of the car to sit on a picnic table. I had the ring in my coat pocket. You said you wanted to talk about where our relationship was headed (Sorry, I do not remember your exact words.....I think you were going to “break up” with me). I replied by taking the ring out of my pocket, placing the ring on your finger, and asking you to marry me.
You said “Yes!” You cried. We talked a bit and got back into the car. You then returned the ring and said you needed to think about it.
