We moved to Norman, Oklahoma in August 1994. We were FINALLY finished with school and starting our career. We found a nice 3-bedroom apartment and moved our family. We planned to live in the apartment while we determined the best place in town to live and buy a house.
One Sunday afternoon, we went for a drive and started looking at developing neighborhoods. We found a really cool (big) lot in southeast Norman. We called the realtor and met with a builder. The builder had the perfect dream house for us. Of course, our dreams were much bigger than our budget. So, we started looking more carefully at what we could afford. We ended up at the Heritage Homes show home in Castlerock and learned the lot across the street was still for sale. We talked it over and decided this was for us. I remember rushing to pay our “earnest” money on the lot before someone else got “our” lot.
It was so much fun to build our “dream” home together. I remember driving out each night after supper (sometimes before) to see the progress on the house. How fun it was to pick out carpet, wall coverings, paint color, cabinet style, etc.
I remember the feeling of accomplishment as the house was finished and we moved in. I loved that house and cherish our experience building the house. I felt like I was a true provider and good husband because I had chosen a house for you and participated in designing it just for you.
I love you!
